A Tale Of Two Switch-Ons: UK/USA

I’ve been a bit down on the UK recently. But now December is here I’ve suddenly, inexplicably, become filled with festive merriment and a desire to remind myself how, in some circumstances, you just can’t beat the Brits.

Take Christmas light switch-ons. In the United States, the 2011 National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was attended by no-marks such as Barack Obama and family, the cast of Jersey Boys and, wait for it… Kermit the Frog.

Meanwhile, at the Bluewater Shopping Centre, Kent, more than 12,000 people watched former X-Factor contestant Kitty Brucknell expose herself through an orange spandex onesie, while her backing singers brought new meaning to the term ‘synchronised’.

I think it’s fairly obvious who comes out of this little tussle looking better, don’t you?
