Titanic Tribute: A Disaster Of Epic Proportions

Which is worse?

A cruise ship set to retrace the voyage of the Titanic having to turn back due to bad weather and passenger illness? Or the fact that all these tributes have apparently availed a bunch of hapless citizens to the fact that the tragedy actually happened. It wasn’t just a film.

If this is news to you, can I just ask? Are you one of the people who found this site by googling ‘Freddie’s Tattoo Tarts?’

I bet you’re seriously disappointed now, aren’t ya?

Dearest Nephew… Please. Just Don’t

When I was sixteen years old, I really, really, really wanted a tattoo as well. I understand and empathise with your feelings completely.

But cool your boots, man. At the time, I thought Ian Astbury (lead singer of The Cult, seen above sporting large hat, headscarf and improbable white leggings) was the cutting edge of sophistication and sartorial elegance and, given half a chance, would have covered myself in artwork reflecting this.

My point, as Ian succinctly (and may I say, artfully) articulates, is that the choices one makes in one’s teens don’t necessarily stand the test of time.

I don’t expect you to get it. I didn’t listen to the warnings either, and just waited until I was eighteen, when I could legally cover myself with ill-conceived crap.

I just thought I’d mention it so when you’re whinging about it in ten years time, I have my smugness on record. This is my compensation for being a dinosaur.

Lots of Love, Auntie.

What’s going to be playing on David Cameron’s mind this morning? The fact that Nicolas Sarkozy swerved his handshake after Cam vetoed an EU Treaty change? Or that he is now five degrees closer to Chelsea footballer and alleged philanderer John Terry in the public conciousness?

It’s a close run thing.

A Tale Of Two Switch-Ons: UK/USA

I’ve been a bit down on the UK recently. But now December is here I’ve suddenly, inexplicably, become filled with festive merriment and a desire to remind myself how, in some circumstances, you just can’t beat the Brits.

Take Christmas light switch-ons. In the United States, the 2011 National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was attended by no-marks such as Barack Obama and family, the cast of Jersey Boys and, wait for it… Kermit the Frog.

Halloween: A Retrospective

This is not, as I first thought, a photo of me and my friends in our local pub (circa 1996, about 11.30am) but a hip n’happening Halloween party in old London town.

I used to think we looked super glamorous and interesting.

Clearly, I was wrong.

Harry & William: Dropping The ‘H’ In HRH

Prince Harry was undoubtedly overjoyed – although a little startled – to receive a generous gift from his brother for his twenty-seventh birthday. His excitement was tempered slightly when he re-read the giftcard and realised he had been given two-hundred and fifty pheasants for shooting, and not the two-hundred and fifty peasants he had originally thought.
